Assistant Managers have many responsibilities at H&M. From day-to-day management elements such as maximizing sales, customer service excellence, or department profitability, to coaching teams within the department. Duties and Responsibilities:
People:
• Organize and distribute work to team members, and determine priorities while maintaining an overview of tasks that will need to be completed as directed by the store manager
• Leads, recruits, welcome, trains, supports the development, and provides succession planning for store employees in collaboration with the Store Manager
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including requests for time off, payroll, change of location or title; disciplinary actions, and related employment decisions
• Support the Store Manager in managing an overview of employee relations responsibilities to maintain a positive work environment.
Commerciality:
• Take necessary actions on the shelf to maximize sales through concerted operational and commercial priorities to achieve the highest level of profitability
• Proactively ensure team members have all information regarding products, campaigns, promotions, display, and merchandising guidelines
• Ensure that the presentation of garments, items, and visual presentation standards meet H&M requirements
• Plan and coordinate with the visual presentation team all activities related to campaigns and sales in their department
Operations:
• Effectively plan the work schedule for all department employees based on business needs and restrictions, adjusting the number of hours needed to meet the store and HPS goal
• Work with sales forecasts, costs, budget, and any other available tools to make decisions that will ensure maximum profitability
• Responsible for the proper knowledge management and application of the operational functions of the administrative/cash system
• Follows and enforces safety and security procedures/routines to prevent loss and ensure the safety of employees and customers
• Responsible for the entire store in the absence of the store manager
Customer Service:
• Maintain high-quality customer service (direct and indirect) by providing the best shopping experience for each customer. Implement the 5 basic requests on the shelf, fitting room, and at the cash registers
• Financial responsibility:
• Support the Store Manager in the implementation and oversight of the department's cost/profit plans, budgets, and variable costs; work with the previous year's sales result, projected sales and sales trends to maximize profitability
• Accurately record sales and hours worked
Qualifications and Skills Required:
• Preferably 2-3 years of retail management, including direct supervisory experience, or comparable management experience
• Must lift weights up to 20 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, stretch, do repetitive motions, pull, push and carry items (mannequins, clothing, bins, busts, etc.) for short distances
• Must be able to climb ladders and use stepladders
• Preferred Bachelor's or Associate's Degree

• Excellent merchandising skills with the ability to generate business results through comprehensive fashion knowledge and creativity

• Basic computer skills (browser used, software interaction, data management.)
• Ability to accept a flexible schedule, including extended evening and weekend hours
• Ability to travel (e.g. to attend a workshop)
