Onella, an inspirational movement that celebrates smoke-free living, approached MURAL to create a piece that captures the attention of young people and raises awareness of the benefits of a smoke-free lifestyle.
The Rockland Centre is proud to support this initiative by offering Onella and MURAL a palisade near the food court, which has been transformed before your very eyes by the young artists selected!
The mural was created using a participatory approach. Five young artists were selected and given the chance to bring their own perspective to the theme. During 3 creative workshops, they imagined an inspiring mural that resonates with their generation, in a collective and immersive approach.
The young artists were mentored by Montreal multidisciplinary artist MonoSourcil. The mural was created before your very eyes during the week of February 24, 2025. The work was completed around March 1, 2025, and will be on display in the shopping centre for one year.

Onella invites you to celebrate nature, inspiration, freedom, and connections. Themed vignettes feature an inspiring person who is building a 100% smoke-free life to inspire young people to do the same.
MURAL is a non-profit organization whose mission is to democratize urban art. Producer of the MURAL public art festival in Montreal, the organization presents mural art, musical performances, digital and technological installations and artworks, as well as various exhibitions. The organization also produces public artworks and special events year-round, in Montreal and throughout Quebec.
Behind the moniker MonoSourcil is Maxime Martel-Racicot, an artist who practises street art, painting, sculpture, installation and performance art. Her street art takes a cartoonish look at her vision of the individual in Western society. Her characters are robots, monsters or even humans, looking anxious, tense and sporting a single eyebrow.
