Let’s meet Manny Sgourakis, President, Luluthia Floral Design

How did you become an entrepreneur?

I was 26 years old, I had ambition, a lot of energy and I knew one thing: I wanted to have my own business. At the time, it was my wife who found a florist shop for sale. At first I had no interest - but I decided to go for it and fell in love with the business. Today, I am passionate about it and consider myself very lucky to be in a field that makes many people happy.

Why did you choose this field? 

I didn’t wake up one morning and decided that I wanted to be a florist; I discovered my passion by trying it out. I simply fell in love with flowers.


What makes your brand stand out? 

At Luluthia Floral Design, we have a modern and trendy approach; we are creative and innovative. What sets us apart is our bouquet presentation and our customer service. It is extremely important to me that my customers have a great experience when they visit my shop. We also offer design services for events and weddings, we can create an event from scratch including the flowers and everything related to the decor.


What is the biggest challenge you’ve had to face in your career as an entrepreneur?   

The COVID-19 pandemic was a big challenge, but we managed to double our sales as people wanted to celebrate their happy moments.


What is the biggest lesson that business ownership has taught you?  

My biggest takeaway is the relationship with the customer. At a very young age, I learned that customers are the most important. You must build a relationship with them.


What advice would you give to a future entrepreneur?

You must believe in yourself, surround yourself with positive people, and above all, absolutely love what you do.  

What do you hope that people remember about your company?  

Our service: I am very attentive to my customers, and many of them have become friends. Being a florist means becoming an expert in relationships - many people tell us their stories. We follow them through their important moments... we start with a bouquet that the man bought for her, then comes the wedding, followed by christening, birthdays, etc.

What are your most popular products?

We are renowned for our Luxe flower boxes. Every day, we deliver these boxes in different sizes all over Montreal. Everything is handmade, we also create highly refined designs like our eternal roses, which are very popular.

What is your best-kept secret? 

My secret is that I love what I do.


What keeps you passionate about your field? 

Bringing happiness in people’s lives.

What could we wish for you in the future? 

My biggest wish is to serve as many people as possible and make them discover the Luluthia brand.
